Have you ever been scammed? Maybe it was a fake caller, text message, email, or scary letter telling you that you must do something or else you will face consequences.
Mostly it ends up with you sending money by Money Gram, Western Union, sending money in a parcel, or Bitcoin.
Scam statistics from the New York Post say that more than 60% of Americans have been scammed, and the most popular is online.
This is a serious problem and one that has even got governments interfering to prevent the mass number of poor victims that have been taken advantage of.

However, most people are waking up to the terrible reality that there are people who are targeting desperate people.
This is why most of us are starting to implement ways to protect ourselves, you probably don’t click on suspicious links anymore, do you?
But these scammers are getting even more crafty in how they target people, and this gets really hard when they start to play with your emotions, in particular sadness and sympathy.
For example, you may be strong enough to ignore a fake robot phone call saying the IRS is going to arrest you.
But do you have the guts to ignore an email saying someone needs money to save themself from a surgery that went wrong?
Some of you may ignore it and say, “Whatever it’s definitely a scam” But the question hits you, what if?
Maybe this isn’t a scam, maybe this is a real person who is in desperate need of assistance and is crying out for someone to save them.
Could you honestly live with the guilt of finding out that this saddening email was real, and that you could have done something about it?
This is why so many people get scammed their human instincts start to kick in, especially as entrepreneurs, business owners, and internet marketers, we want to help people, and deliver value to the world but this is how we can get used.
However…
What if you were to respond to these scams and not just ignore them? I would say you’re silly.
But, what if you were crazy enough to go even further and build trust and rapport with the very same person who is trying to drain your wallet? This may sound insane but there is one person who stands out that does all these things.
You read that right, someone is brave and insane enough to search out these scammers and help them, and his name is Ben Taylor or most popularly known as Pleasant Green.
He has made a career lurking for scammers and trying to play with them, or go as far as to help them change their life, it’s inspiring and crazy to see.
He has 1.07 Million subscribers on his YouTube channel, 12.1K followers on his Twitter, and is constantly growing.
He has even gotten the attention of news channels such as Right this minute kutv, and
TEDx Talks for his amazing kindness.

But there is one video in particular that warmed my heart, and it was a lady in Cameroon central Africa called Chikaordery.
She was a poor lady that has been sending emails to many people around the world desperately trying to get some funding, so she can go to a hospital in America.
What happened to Chikaordery?
When Chikaordery was born she had a fever and the doctors prescribed her a drug that was way too strong, which led to her abdomen swelling.
In a panic, the doctors decided to do surgery, but this is when things went downhill, it left Chikaordery with an extremely damaged stomach that now leads to extreme pain every day of her life, she can’t even eat or sit down for more than 10 minutes.
This is what Chikaordery’s injury looks like.
The great news is that after years of searching, she has finally found a surgery that can bring her back.
But the hard part is that she is extremely poor and doesn’t have the money to pay for the medical costs.
You’re probably wondering why doesn’t she ask her parents? The painful truth is that the parents are just as poor and can’t help her either.
This is when Pleasant Green received this email and at first, he thought it was a scam, but when he got into further detail, he was shocked to find out this story is starting to add up.
And in the end, it truly was a poor lady that has been trying for years, to get the money to save herself from this nightmare.
This is when Pleasant Green started to roll up his sleeves and help Chikaordery, however, there was another obstacle Chikaordery needed $40,000 for her surgery and other costs.
This was a huge problem since no one had that kind of money lying around, at first Chikaordery thought of doing a fundraiser on Go Fund Me, but this wasn’t going to cut it.
As entrepreneurs, business owners, and internet marketers, we know if you want to make money you don’t chase dollars you chase problems, and deliver something of value to the world, that will turn heads and make people buy, but what could a sick, poor lady in a third world country do with limited resources?
This is when Chikaordery told Pleasant Green that she can draw, but at first, the drawings were nothing amazing.
So Pleasant Green came up with a genius idea, he was going to get Chikaordery an iPad and an Apple pen so she can draw and send the images to him.
Sounds easy right?
Wrong! Pleasant Green had to face the hassle of trying to get the iPad to her, they tried shipping it to her, but the shipping costs were even more expensive than the iPad itself.
They tried sending the money so Chikaordery could buy the iPad, this is when Pleasant Green used Western Union.
But to his surprise, they froze his account, Pleasant Green called the support phone and explained that this poor lady in South Africa needed money for her surgery.
But the lady at support said, “I think you may be a victim of a scam, your money will be refunded back to your account” What kind of rubbish customer service is this, it’s his own money!
So, Pleasant Green tried using Money Gram, but as if things couldn’t get any worse his account failed, so he contacted customer support and explained his situation, and Money Gram replied.
“Money Gram doesn’t feel comfortable with this transaction”.
What the hell!!! It’s Pleasant Green’s own money, who cares if Money Gram doesn’t feel “Comfortable”!
And just to put the icing on the cake, they banned him from using their platform, thanks Money Gram and Western Union here’s a sarcastic round of applause.
So, Pleasant Green was, unfortunately, going to tell her the bad news, and Chikaordery said “Ok Mr Ben it’s ok”.
This was really upsetting to hear since it’s obviously not ok, and something needed to be done.
So, in the last hopes, Pleasant Green came up with a brainstorm, why doesn’t he use Bitcoin so he can send the money to Chikaordery, and she can turn it into cash, and buy an iPad?
There was one problem, she’s never used Bitcoin, so what was Pleasant Green going to do?
Since Pleasant Green is a magnet for scammers, he contacted a scammer in Nigeria that he knows called Emanuel Lukas, Pleasant Green’s arch-nemesis.
The guy who has tried to scam him more than 20 times and hasn’t done a decent thing in his life.
Unfortunately, it was his only hope, so he decided to give him a text and say ”I need your help”.
And this is when he explains the story to Emanuel, finally, Emmanuel says why don’t you send it to me, and I’ll give it to Chikaordery, this sounded like a great idea……
If Emanuel wasn’t a scammer…
But Pleasant Green went for it and sent $50 as a test of trust and to everyone’s surprise, Emanuel went quiet, Pleasant Green had failed, so it was back to the drawing board for Pleasant Green.
The feeling of defeat came back, but when Pleasant Green felt that all hope was lost, he thought of one guy in Nigeria that he could trust.
His name was Tay and Pleasant Green hired him a year ago, to direct a movie, he was an honest and hardworking person that could make this happen.
So, Tay said if he could move the money to an African bank, he could then take the money and give it to Chikaordery through Western Union.
So Pleasant Green made his final attempt, he went to his local bank and said he wants to send an international wire of $800 to a bank in Nigeria, and if you don’t, I’ll go to another bank that can.
The relief came over Pleasant Green when he was successfully able to send the money to Tay, all he had to do was send it by Western Union to Chikaordery.
As if life couldn’t get any worse Emanuel sent a message to Pleasant Green saying, “OMG it will not work my bank has me under suspicion I don’t know why”.
Wait, Emanuel was actually honest?! That’s right the scammer was actually trying to do good, and that’s when Emanuel tried again, and to our happy surprise, Chikaordery replied, she had received the money!!!
YAY! She finally went with her brother and got the iPad and pen, and now the next step in her life can finally happen.

What is the next step?
Chikaordery has been working on her drawing skills, and has become better and better, even though she struggled to send the photos to Pleasant Green, because of the bad Wi-Fi.
But, she was able to break through all the obstacles, and finally create a picture book that talks about her life, and it’s called…
