We all want success in our life, it doesn’t matter if it’s success in family, life, health, wealth, business, or whatever you can think of, no one wants to fall flat on their face and be classed as a failure.
SO, WHY IS IT THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE SUCCESSFUL AND OTHERS AREN’T?
There’s no real science behind this, I mean think about it, you don’t get told by the hospital staff “Congratulations it’s a boy, but unfortunately, he wasn’t born with success”. So if it isn’t in your DNA then what is the reason?
I want you to imagine two mechanics we will call mechanic 1 Elon and mechanic 2 Joe, the annoying thing is that both their mechanic stores are across the road from each other.
For a while business was decent they would both get enough money to get by, but then something tragic happened, they saw a sharp drop in customers for no reason, at first both companies thought it was just a bad month and thought nothing of it.
But, this started to become common there would even be times where both companies had to pay out of pocket just to keep the lights on, they both knew that if this kept up they would have to close their doors.
Joe had the idea to keep things normal he didn’t want to change anything, but one day Joe got someone through the door, and it was a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato MP209 which needed a lot of repairs.
The owner said he will pay whatever it takes to bring his baby back, Joe was over the moon he could keep his business running for a lot longer.
A few weeks went by and Joe still hadn’t fully fixed the car, the owner came back and was asking what was taking him so long.
Joe said he will be done in another week the owner looked very frustrated but agreed a few weeks again and the owner was furious, the car was still needed repairs.
The owner shouted: “You know what forget it, it’s been ages and you still haven’t fixed my car, I’m going to the guy across the road maybe he’ll do better!”
So, the Aston owner got his car and moved it to Elon’s garage, the Aston owner was very angry and said.
“How long will it take for you to fix this car? And please don’t tell me you’re like that guy across the road” Elon said that he will do it in 2 weeks.
The Aston owner rolled his eyes since he didn’t believe a word Elon was saying, but he left his car with him anyway a week went by and Elon called the Aston owner and said, “Sorry for the inconvenience but your car is ready”, at fist the Aston owner was shocked “It’s only been one week how is that possible?”
A week went by and Elon called the Aston owner and said, “Sorry for the inconvenience but your car is ready”, at first the Aston owner was shocked, “It’s only been one week how is that possible?”
Elon was grinning on the phone and said “Why don’t you come in and see for yourself” the Aston owner came down to the garage and was looking at every inch of the car with a skeptical look, thinking that Elon had cut corners and was trying to scam him.
Elon politely asked, “If you don’t mind me asking, why did you want this car fixed so badly, it’s a very special car, most people wouldn’t drive this car around, they would keep it safe and use it for show?”
The owner said, “I’m going to sell it, apparently this car can go for 5 million dollars”. That car can sell for way more than that, Elon thought in his head “Name your price” the Aston owner proudly said.
Elon said, “It’s on the house it’s been my dream to see this car,” the Aston owner said, “Nonsense I’m giving you 3 million for the super-fast and high-quality repair”, Elon almost cried since he knew that would more than enough to keep his business alive.
After a few months, Elon could see two men walking into Joe’s garage ten minutes went past and Joe came out crying.
“What’s wrong Elon,” asked “I’m bankrupt and I have to shut the business down” Joe was able to stop his tears for a moment and ask the question “How did you fix his car so quickly?”
Elon asked, “How long did you spend on the car?” Joe said “Forty hours a week” Elon shook his head and said.
“There’s a reason why I was always a little bit ahead of you and it’s because I put more work than you, while you only spent forty hours a week, I was doing ninety which meant that I could do more than half the progress you could do”.
SO, WHAT DOES THIS LONG STORY MEAN?
The moral of this story is that you must be willing to put in the work so you can get the results that you truly desire, also you’re going to have to go up against other people who are racing towards the same goal as you.
You’re going to have to battle on who is willing to put in the most work, in order to achieve that goal, this is very common for entrepreneurs, we are all extremely hungry for our goals, but, whoever puts the most effort in always wins.
BUT ADVENTAGO THAT SOUNDS LONG AND HARD.
I know it is, but that’s where you have to ask yourself how badly do you really what you’re aiming for? Are you willing to put in longer hours, sacrifice going out, sacrifice spending money on dumb things? If you can’t sacrifice a little now how are you going to have the big wi in the future?
This circles back to the question of why are some successful and others aren’t? It all boils down to who is determined to put in more work, if that doesn’t sound like something you can do, then maybe you’re not cut to be an entrepreneur.
