Do you love to succeed in your business? … Of course, you do! It feels amazing when you accomplish a task, especially the really big and long projects that entrepreneurs have to go through,
However, …
I want you to look back and ask yourself what emotions you were feeling while going through the process.
Did you feel tired, frustrated, annoyed, and impatient, when dealing with any tasks and obstacles that you were faced with?
How about the feeling you got when you finally accomplished your goal? You must have been super happy to finally have a pause and get back your thoughts.
Or maybe you even celebrated with your friends, family, and work colleagues.
But how did you feel a week, a month, or 5 years from now? Is the same sense of achievement still there, or has it died down, if not completely vanished?
You think to yourself that you should be happier, due to finally hitting your goal, so why is it you don’t feel the same fire inside you?
The reason for your question is that you didn’t enjoy what you were going through, this is very important.
Since you’re now having feelings of being strangled by your business, and the fulfillment you once had is quickly dying.
To have this type of negative mindset towards your business is a huge lock on your performance, since now you’re going to be up against competitors who have a genuine love and passion for what they do, which will lead to them putting in crazy amounts of effort to get ahead of you.
This is just like the 9 to 5 rat race, and knowing Sunday is sadly going to end, then having that knot in your stomach of going back to your job tomorrow.
This is not what you signed up for, you wanted to be your own boss, so you could live life the way you wanted to and still be the financial pillar for your loved ones, unfortunately, it seems that the struggles you have gone through have left a number on you.
WELL ADVENTAGO THAT’S CALLED REAL HUSTLE!
I know some of you believe that it isn’t work if you’re always enjoying yourself, but who on earth loves doing things they hate day in and day out, when they could do what they love and get the same lifestyle, if not better?
Call me crazy but I would rather have a life that I love, than dread my work.
SO, WHAT SHOULD I ENJOY?
Fall in love with the process, not the result, the reason why is that if you’re always enjoying the process of reaching your goal you will always feel happy and accomplished, instead of waiting for the big day to feel proud of yourself.
This turns what you were once having to struggle to get yourself out of bed to do, to now not wanting to get to bed.
Just like when you were a child and pleaded with your mum for “5 more minutes”, doesn’t that sound a lot nicer than flexing about how your business is like hell but you’re crawling through?
You should give yourself more credit, even if it’s a really small task you accomplished, don’t disregard it, be happy that you’re on your journey to reaching your biggest accomplishment.
As the saying goes…
Here is a video by Brendon Burchard that talks about trusting in the process.
As you just saw the most successful people who love the process of running towards their goals are way happier than the ones who tunnel vision towards the finish line and nothing else.
IN CLOSING
I can’t say that you’re always going to love every moment of running your business, I know realistically there’re going to be times when you want to bang your head against the wall.
But a large chunk of your life devoted to this business should be filled with happiness, since there’s nothing greater than going to sleep with a smile on your face and waking up with a smile on your face.
A great example would be the opening of your business, you weren’t thinking of becoming a billionaire the next day, were you?
Most of us got fulfillment by the little things, maybe it was when you got your trademark, or when you got the perfect logo and name for your business, getting the keys to your store, or making your first sale.
We get fulfillment out of providing value to others, and having something great that can impact the world and leave our legacy.
As you can see these are very tiny steps, but to us, as entrepreneurs deep down every single one of you know it’s another step in the journey of becoming successful.
If you’re a book or audio listening fan, then I recommend the book Chop Wood, Carry Water: Guide to Finding Spiritual Fulfillment in Everyday Life
It’s a book about a samurai who is obsessed with his goal, but a wise man shows him all the great accomplishments he has done along the way.
The only disclaimer is that the original book is blue, however, a lot of people complained about all the spelling mistakes so a rewritten one was released.
