I can already sense the huge sea of people who have searched this sentence and will come to this blog for advice, I don’t blame anyone, this is a huge success killing machine.

Procrastinating affects everyone at times, the most annoying thing is that it’s something you know you need to do but as the youngers call it “I can’t be asked”.

The nasty thing about this is that it can become a habit that you end up being lazy, which is something no entrepreneur can have.

Psssssssssst you secretly know that you’re procrastinating right now by typing into the internet “Ways to stop procrastinating” but I’ll cut you some slack since you’re trying your best to cure this, instead of being like others who just accept it.

So where did this procrastination come from?

For a lot of people, it’s because they’re doing something they don’t enjoy, which can be extremely hard to try and force your brain to focus on a task for a long time on a topic you hate doing.

However, there’s a different kind of person who loves what they do, but still puts things that they need to do off.

I had this problem with my blog, there were days that I felt like moving it to another day, even though I knew there were people hungry for my content.

Getting all this content out can be difficult, so I thought of all the reasons not to do it, but as Dan Lok once said…

“You can have 1000 excuses not to do something, but you only need one damm good reason to start.”

So, sluggishly I got writing, and quickly after I started to keep the grind going and going, until I was finished.

I looked at the time and realized it’s been 3 hours which was amazing since it wasn’t long ago, I wasn’t even going to start.

This can be a huge destroyer for entrepreneurs since we can’t be procrastinating on things we need to do, or we would never move forward.

But you didn’t come here to learn about my life story, you came here to find a quick and simple way to kill procrastinating, and here’s your answer.

Ohhhh! You thought there was going to be some kind of magic pill that I would link you to, and then you would be sold a 1000-dollar course on how to stop procrastination.

That I would probably get a commission from, well great news I’m not that type of person, but I will give you the harsh truth.

The only way to stop procrastinating is by getting a tiny bit of your task done each time, it doesn’t have to be a huge chunk just a tiny bit that makes you feel proud of slowly getting towards your goal without feeling overwhelmed.

In addition, you may get the momentum (or as athletes call it in the zone) to keep on going since you will think to yourself, I might as well keep on going.

The main reason why people procrastinate is that they see this task as a huge mountain that could never be climbed.

But the truth is, you can do a tiny bit of climbing each day until you realize that you’ve reached the top.

The Second method is very risky, but if you suffer from serious procrastination then this may be the only way to kick you into action.

And it’s to wait until the deadline, or really close to the deadline, this will make your brain panic and force you to start taking massive action until you’ve finished your goal.

This method is not great for people who can’t handle pressure, or for people who can’t handle the thought of their work not being of a high standard.

Here is a TEDx talk by TIM Urban that talks about how a procrastinator thinks and how to combat it, he calls it the three monkeys.

“Life is a fight for territory, and once you stop fighting for what you want, what you don’t want will automatically takeover.”

This is extremely true, there’re times when you’re going to have to go through processes you hate in order to have the results you love.

In conclusion. 

I know that this isn’t what you want to hear, or was intentionally looking for, but there’s no magic pill to killing procrastination.

If there was, everyone would be using it, the real solution on how to stop procrastination is to take action, put your head down and do a little bit each time.
