I remember getting a DM on LinkedIn about this, and I thought this is a very good question.
How do you find the right profitable product to sell online to your target market especially if this is your first or couple of businesses that you’re getting started?
The way that many professional marketers do it, is not the kind of things you will see in your fake teacher’s business classroom.
And that is the real business owners and master marketers don’t focus on the product they always focus on the market first.
To the expert marketers and business owners market always comes first, and the product second.
They want to find out what are the needs in the marketplace that aren’t being fulfilled?
They want to see what problems are not being solved, I remember a quote by the Joker saying…
“If you’re good at something, never do it for free”
– Joker.
If you want to attract your desired clients, shine bright in the marketplace, and have a consistent stream of high-paying customers, without relying on a silly hack, or a certain social media platform.
Successful marketers and business owners try to find out where people are frustrated about a certain thing.
If you want to create a new category, and become a category leader, by making a new blue ocean by creating something that no one else has ever done, seen, or heard of before.
That’s perfectly fine, if that’s your goal, but, from my perspective and many other successful entrepreneurs, most people simply don’t have the ability to do that.
If this is your first or couple of businesses you are much safer and smarter to do some reconnaissance and see what’s out there right now, what’s already selling, and what are people already searching for.
A good example would be, let’s say, you’re selling something online, you should ask the question, what are people searching for and already buying on Amazon?
What are people already buying from other E. Commerce sites? What are people buying in terms of keyword research? What keywords are they typing into Google and what search volume do they have?
Do your research, what solutions are people actively looking for to solve their problems?
If you have identified the needs and the demand already, all you have to do is tweak what’s already out there and solve that particular problem.
Now, you have massively minimized your risk, or if there’s a huge marketplace out there that’s being created by other people.
A smart entrepreneur would be thinking, how can I get a piece of this action, and ride this trend too?
Here’s an example, instead of you trying to come up with the next thing to compete with Walmart, Amazon, Exxon Mobil, or Apple.
Let’s be honest you’re no fortune 500 company, and I’m no fortune 500 company, and the chances are that’s not going to happen.
However, you can have a massively thriving business selling products that complement these massive fortune 500 companies.
For example, instead of trying to become the next Samsung, why don’t you sell accessories like screen protectors, customizable cases, beautifully designed lock screen wallpapers, and many more?
Think about it, due to a company creating such a massive demand for this particular product, what are some of the complementary products that you could sell?
Think of it as a big ocean, you have this massive whale that’s swimming in the ocean and you’re the little fish that attaches yourself to this big whale.
Just the leftovers from this big whale alone can generate you a wildly successful and profitable business.
Without the risks of guessing what people want, and the colossal amounts of money you would have to spend trying to advertise your new product.
By following this method, you know with confidence, there’s a massive demand that’s being created, and all you have to do is gently tap into that and see amazing business success.
This is an extremely intelligent way of starting and growing your business, you’re not taking a stupid risk, but a calculated risk.
The question you should be asking yourself is, “How can you use the least amount of money to get my business going?”
Then from there, once you have accumulated capital and you’ve had some success under your belt.
Then, you could do bigger things, versus diving right into the deep end and saying, “I’m going to invent the next thing that’s going to change the entire planet!”
Well, sorry to break it to you but chances are you’re not going to do that, you’re not Jeff Bezos, or Mark Zuckerberg, let’s face it, it’s good to be realistic in this scenario.
