But the funny thing is, the people in that picture, were extraordinary engineers and business leaders, who came to work with Vishen Lakhiani in that office, you see that guy in the picture.

That’s Khailee Ng, he is the head of 500 start-ups and he’s 1 of Asia’s most incredible investors.

Back in 2005, he was employee number 11 at Mindvalley, now, how on earth was Vishen Lakhiani getting people of that caliber to come and work from that ugly office?

Vishen Lakhiani calls this “The manifesto”, back then in 2005 when Vishen Lakhiani put up his first Mindvalley website, Vishen Lakhiani didn’t have any employees, Mindvalley was basically Vishen Lakhiani and his dog.

AHHHH that dog looks so cute!!! Oops sorry, I got a little distracted. 🐶

The reason Vishen Lakhiani put his dog on the website was that he was too embarrassed to show that a team consisted of only 1 person, so Vishen Lakhiani made his labradoodle a director of PR.

But on that same website, Vishen Lakhiani wrote a manifesto, and this is what that manifesto said.

And, since Vishen Lakhiani was just a guy with a dog working from the back of the warehouse, that manifesto would seem almost delusional.

But Vishen wasn’t talking about the present reality he was describing the future he wanted to create.

And amazingly fast he started getting incredible talent because people resonated with that manifesto, you see as Vishen Lakhiani said in chapter 2 of his book The Buddha and the Badass.

People are driven more by emotion than logic, and what inspires people is a vision for a shared future that excites the soul, this is what the manifesto technique is about, and when you can figure out what is your manifesto for the shared vision that you are going to create, you’re going to be magnetic.
