Here’s why arguing is pointless, and how you can always win an argument.

I am one hundred percent with you! Arguing is a pain, it can ruin relationships, tear business deals, ruin lives, and even poison your mindset, as an entrepreneur we can’t let this slide.

Let me guess you’re here because you’re about to have an argument, or you’ve just had one, and want to equip yourself with the knowledge to influence others, I’m 100% with you, so I won’t keep you waiting.

However, I would like you to slow down and give your mind some clearance, and ask yourself this 1 very important question.

Why are you arguing?

Now, you may have already said your answer “It’s because she won’t do that, or because he always does this!” But I’m not talking about the face value problem, I’m talking about the root of the problem.

This is a lot more powerful, since you can now start to calm down and decipher why the person, you’re arguing with does what he or she does.

For example, “Sally is late for my meeting!” Instead of getting angry, the moment Sally walks in, instead look at the root and ask yourself why?

“Hey, sally why was you late for my meeting?”

“Oh, I’m so sorry my daughter was in a serious car accident, so I wanted to make sure she was ok.”

Could you imagine getting angry at a mother for wanting to see her seriously injured daughter? Obviously, you’re not a bad person, but you could have started an argument over something you were not fully aware of.

Is the argument worth it?

Have you ever been in an argument and thought to yourself why are we still arguing about this?

As simple as it sounds it can be very difficult to take your emotions away from the conflict, and realize that what you are fussing over may not even be worth it.

For example, would you really want to damage a relationship with a customer just because he argued about your service?

These types of arguments are extremely dangerous because, they’re the type of arguments that if you win you feel dirty since you have gone through so much for something worthless, or you feel dirty losing since it took so much energy out of you.

A great way to fix this is to ask yourself what would I gain if I win this argument? If it’s nothing, then back out before things get crazy.

But if it’s something worth fighting for, then try and argue in a sensible way that makes the other person see your point of view.

Do they believe that they’re always right?

These types of conversations can be simple all you have to do is listen to them, go on and on, about how right they are.

While you argue about them in your head, but what if you have no choice, and you have to argue with this type of person?

A solid way to win this is to make them see their own problems, this is a super-effective method since they only listen to themselves, you could try and make them see the flaws in their own plans in a friendly way.

The way to do this is by giving them a compliment then saying “Why, how, or would you consider”.

These three questions get them thinking without them feeling interrogated, here is a little role play to show you how this would work.

Bob: We should open our new restaurant here I know what I’m talking, about besides you guys aren’t even smart enough to understand.

Sam: No! Why would you think that putting the restaurant here would be a good idea that’s dumb?

Bob: What did you say?! My idea is what our company needs to grow I’m not going to listen to you!

Lena: Bob I really like your idea of putting the restaurant near the locals since they love getting their Sunday roast.

Would you consider the chances of putting the store near the university since students don’t want to cook after a long day of work, and there are not many restaurants nearby so there would be less competition?

Bob: But my idea is still better.

Lena: I know Bob, and I’m really amazed at how you spotted this great location, if you don’t mind me asking how would you compete with the other restaurants with our budget and brand being smaller?

Bob: We could…errrrr…. I guess you’re right sorry.

AHHHH poor Bob

Here’s a video by Mel Robbins that discusses how to win an argument with someone who believes that they’re always right.

But wait there’s more! If you want to know the proven way to win any argument, then keep on reading.

“Action is better than reaction.”

Don’t get into arguments in the first place, as entrepreneurs, we are meant to be leaders of our own life and business, and to have anyone bd hostile to us personally is crossing the line.

The answer is to cut the argument short; this can stop the snowball effect of getting angrier and angrier in a conversation.

An example of this would be to agree with what the person is saying, then go behind their back and do what you want to do.

This stops you from having to deal with their bickering, and can help you show them living proof that your idea was successful.

Another idea is, you could let them ramble, sometimes people want to get things off their chest and feel understood, so the best thing would be to let them speak.

IN CONCLUSION

I know it can be difficult to have no other choice but to argue with someone, however as entrepreneurs, we have to learn how to handle others.

This is why a lot of people practice speaking, however, if you apply these tips, tricks, and techniques you can become a great speaker and negation handler just like a politician.

Here’s a book that we’ve all probably read, but, if you’re one of the few people on the entire planet who hasn’t grabbed yourself a copy of this book, then you need to.
