Do It Now Or Don’t Do It, My Approach To Business And Life (Mindset)

One thing that has helped me in my business and life, is to have the decision mindset of hell yes or hell no.

This could be investing in a certain asset, buying that online course, or ordering a dish on the menu.

Everything should be you’re really into it, or you aren’t going to do it, the reason why I have this mindset is that it’s made my decision-making a lot easier, but, one thing I’ve seen with a lot of people is that they want to be hell yes, but later.

They love the idea, but they don’t want to do the work, my opinion is, if it’s worth doing, then it’s worth doing now.

You’ve probably heard people say, “Let me think about it”, a great counter I learned from Dan Lok was to say this…

“Well, you know [Prospect’s name], usually, when I hear someone say they will think about it I never hear from them again, let’s bottom line this, what would it take for us to do business today?”

The reason why this is a powerful counter, is that it’s a secret way of saying let’s be honest you’re not going to do it.

This is something as entrepreneurs we need to be careful about, since there’re a lot of things we have on our minds.

This means we need to sit back and think, is this at the top of my priority list? Because if it’s not, then you’re just going to be spinning your wheels.

I’ll give you an example, I’ve been looking for ages for a good stockbroker in the UK and after looking through more than 38 brokers I came down to 2, however after all that time and effort I started to think to myself, do I want to do this?

Just remember it took me, 38 brokers! And now I’m almost at the finish line, and I begin to procrastinate, thankfully I took action and went with one called EQI.

The moral of this little story is that as entrepreneurs we need to take action now, and understand the importance of timeliness, we all have different standards for how long we want to hold on to something.

But, what people aren’t thinking about, is that they can be somewhere earlier, what do I mean by this?

Let’s say you’re going to start a company, and you come across a tax professional, he or she tells you how important it is that you get the right tax structure now, rather than later.

But you say, “Oh I don’t need it now, I’ll get it when my company gets bigger, or when I need my taxes done”.

Now you’ve had your business for a long time, and you want to sell it, however, you realize if you sell now, you’re going to be slapped with a huge tax bill.

So, what do you do? You start to panic, now you’re rushing around desperately trying to find a good tax professional.

And when you do come across one, he or she says, “If only you had this structure in place earlier, we could have prepared for this, there isn’t much I can do now”.

Also, leaving it to the last-minute limits your options, clouds your judgment, and can badly impact your business.

This is why you need to stop delaying, the things, you know, will drastically help you in the future.

Take this advice, no matter what you’re doing for your business, there is no harm in having it just in case, also you can have peace of mind.

WRAPPING UP

Believe me, you will have a huge sense of relief when you finally get something in place, and stop stressing yourself thinking do I really need this? Now it’s in your hand, and no longer a thought.

Why wait until you desperately need it? Why wait until you have to rush? Why wait when you have fewer options and you’re running around like a headless chicken trying, to figure things out? When you could have easily taken action earlier, and been perfectly fine.

I believe there is no such thing as too early, think about it like this, that’s one less thing you have to worry about in the future.

DO IT NOW, OR CONSIDER THAT IT’S NOT WORTH DOING.
