Can you remember how you felt when you opened the doors to your new business, did you feel excited, nervous, relieved, or neutral?
You and many others were probably very excited to finally see your business come to life, from an idea in your head to it being right in front of your eyes, you have definitely come a long way.
And what’s even more awesome is that the journey doesn’t end there, you have a lifetime of working on what you love.
But I have a question for you, when your business was very young were you taking rapid action to get things done?
It almost felt like your business was on fire, and you were an action-taking machine, day in and day out you would improve your business and see rapid growth, in simple words.
BUSINESS WAS BOOMING!
But how long have you been in business for? Do you feel calmer? Do you feel like the days have the same routine?
I’m not saying this is bad if you’re making a great and sustainable living then well done, all I’m saying is, this means you have settled for what you have in your business.
The only concern is, if your competitors are well established, aren’t settling, always improving themselves, testing, and tweaking, then this will soon lead to you being overtaken by them, which will ruin your calm and peaceful business.
Or, if you’re the type of person who only checks from time to time, then you’re also in trouble, since you will only spot problems far down the line, compared to your competitors who spot errors before they even become a minor nuisance.
So, when should I track my progress?
This is a good idea from Dan Lok which he calls the D.I.G, which stands for, daily income goal, this is the mindset of tracking your goals every day.
So you’re always aware of what is going on, and can monitor every little step, it also saves you the headache of having to wait until the end of the month, year or week to see if you suck or not.
This can work in any part of your life, not just business, if you’re tracking your goals daily it will give you the motivation to keep on pressing forwards.
Why wait until the end of the month to feel proud of yourself when you can feel proud of yourself every day?
This is a video from Dan Lok, that tells you, how to set goals and actually achieve them.
How do I track my business?
I can’t say for every niche or I would be old and grey, but It doesn’t matter if you’re an online or brick and mortar business, there are methods for both of these, let’s start with the brick and mortar first.
Tip: Have an incentive for someone to do the survey, maybe a little discount or have a machine that the customer can type in their feedback, you’ve probably seen these types of machines that have faces on them and ask how you like the store.
But your one should have an iPad so you customers can type how they truly feel.
This is easy for online businesses, you can use Google Analytics to see trends in your online store, also you can use Facebook pixel to track data too.
IN SUMMARY
We track our finances, health, friends on social media, and our Amazon packages, so why don’t we track our business’s success?
Hopefully, you now understand the importance of why you should be tracking your goals daily.
